Ray of Sunshine Therapy is a New York–based mental health practice built on a simple belief: skilled, compassionate care should feel like a safe place to land — and it should be within reach for the people who need it.
We exist to help individuals, couples, and families move through life's heavier seasons with dignity and support. Rooted in a multicultural, trauma-informed philosophy, our practice meets each client exactly where they are — honoring their story, culture, and pace, without judgment. As we grow, we remain committed to warmth as a standard of care, not an afterthought.
Every client is met with genuine warmth and unconditional positive regard. Change grows from a real therapeutic relationship — so we build trust first.
We serve clients of many backgrounds, identities, and languages — including sessions in Mandarin — and we are proud to be LGBTQ+ affirming and racial-justice allied.
Our clinicians draw on CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and person-centered methods, shaping the approach around each client's goals rather than the reverse.
Ray of Sunshine Therapy provides individual, couples, and family therapy, delivered online across New York and New Jersey. Our clinicians support clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the everyday work of building healthier coping skills.
We believe access matters as much as expertise. That's why we work with a range of insurance plans, offer out-of-network support, and reserve sliding-scale spots to keep quality care attainable.
See our servicesRay of Sunshine Therapy was founded by Ray Zhang, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an MA and EdM from Columbia University and more than seven years of clinical experience helping adults, couples, and families — including many in crisis.
Ray practices from a multicultural, trauma-informed foundation, integrating psychodynamic, mindfulness, person-centered, motivational interviewing, and CBT approaches. Licensed in both New York and New Jersey and fluent in English and Mandarin, Ray built this practice around a conviction that difficult times feel far less devastating when we regain a sense of meaning — and that no one should have to face them alone.
As the practice grows, that founding spirit guides how we hire, how we support our clinicians, and how we care for every client who walks through our (virtual) door.
We're hiring across New York. If warm, thoughtful, evidence-based care is your kind of work, we'd love to meet you.
